Arsenal head into Sunday’s crucial clash against Chelsea with some injury concerns, despite being six points clear at the top of the Premier League and riding high on recent wins over Tottenham and Bayern Munich. Martin Ødegaard has returned from injury, featuring in Wednesday’s 3-1 Champions League victory, but the fitness of Viktor Gyökeres, Kai Havertz, and Leandro Trossard remains under close watch.

Viktor Gyökeres is edging closer to a comeback after a four-week absence with a hamstring injury, having last played against Burnley on November 1. Mikel Arteta has described both Gyökeres and Havertz as “really good” and confirmed they will undergo repeat scans in the coming days to assess readiness for the Chelsea game, with Gyökeres potentially returning on Sunday.

Leandro Trossard, however, suffered a setback during the Bayern Munich match when he was forced off after 38 minutes with a suspected calf injury. The Belgian forward had been in excellent form, scoring in last weekend’s 4-1 win over Tottenham, but his early exit has added to Arsenal’s fitness worries ahead of a key encounter with their title rivals.
