Ferro Fabrik Sierra Leone Limited has firmly refuted recent media reports accusing the company of malpractices, describing the allegations as baseless, malicious, and intended to tarnish its growing reputation in the steel manufacturing sector. The clarification came during a press conference held on November 26, 2025, at the company’s Songo facility.
Speaking to journalists, Mohamed H. Bility, Global Government Relations Lead and Acting General Manager, condemned the publication as misleading and deliberately crafted to discredit a reputable industry player. He reaffirmed that Ferro Fabrik operates with full transparency and adheres to globally recognized production and quality standards.

Bility addressed three major allegations: claims of producing substandard iron rods, accusations of importing iron rods for resale in Sierra Leone, and reports that four trucks recently brought into the country were loaded with imported products. He dismissed all three assertions as untrue.
In response to claims of substandard production, Bility emphasized that Ferro Fabrik is ISO 9001:2015 certified, an internationally recognized benchmark of quality compliance. He noted that several multinational companies in Sierra Leone have independently assessed and approved the company’s products, consistently procuring them for major construction projects further proof of their quality and durability. He added that the company’s products are also certified under the ECOWAS Trade Liberalization Scheme (ETLS), reinforcing their credibility across the region.

Bility also rejected allegations that the company imports iron rods, stressing that Ferro Fabrik operates one of the most advanced steel production systems in West Africa, with an annual production capacity of 150,000 metric tons. Customs records from the National Revenue Authority (NRA), he said, clearly show that the company’s products are locally manufactured and legally exported by private distributors.
Addressing the issue of the four trucks, Bility explained that the vehicles are part of Ferro Fabrik’s distribution fleet and were transporting locally produced iron rods purchased by a client with duty-free privileges. Two trucks were headed to Marampa Mine, while the other two delivered goods at the company’s Magbentha site, all under the supervision of authorities, civil society, and the media.
Bility further underscored the company’s regional footprint, highlighting its long-established operations in Ghana and Liberia, where it employs over 3,000 people. With full-scale Sierra Leone operations set to expand within months, the company aims to grow its local workforce to more than 900 employees. He reiterated Ferro Fabrik’s commitment to integrity, regulatory compliance, and community development in areas such as education, health, and infrastructure.

Ferro Fabrik Sierra Leone Limited urged the public and media to rely on verified information and avoid circulating unfounded allegations that could undermine investor confidence. The press conference concluded with a guided tour of the factory, where journalists witnessed the production line and quality control systems firsthand.
